Hi, I am reading the manual on cohesion test and not quite understand the meaning of 're-roll'.

I understand we start from rolling two dice. Then there comes 're-roll' according to troop's quality. Then it says 'untrained unit re-roll 6s'. What does this mean? It means the summation of two dice is 6 then we re-roll or it means either die is 6 we re-roll? Plus, when do we re-roll? We re-roll all the time or we re-roll after the cohesion test fails? If we re-roll all the time no matter test passed or not, how many times do we have to re-roll, infinite times when we meet the re-roll criteria or just once?

If either die is 6 we reroll.

Just once.

e.g. Ikko-ikki peasants roll 6 and 1 on CT. They have to reroll the 6 and roll a 1. Very bad, their score is now 2. If they had rerolled the 6 as a 6, they would not have to reroll it again.

This mechanism is carried forward from the FOGR tabletop rules. As it worked well, there seemed no need to reinvent the wheel for the computer.

However, the computer algorithm is somewhat more complicated to take into account the intermediate shades of quality that the computer version allows. For example, troops whose quality is somewhere between untrained and average (e.g. raw troops) only reroll a proportion of their 6s. The chances of a reroll actually being made for intermediate quality troops is determined mathematically, so that all shades of quality are taken into account.

This is all "under the hood" and there is really no need for players to concern themselves over the details, as they can't influence the random score part of the cohesion test calculation anyway. Suffice it to say that the quality adjustments to the random score mean that troops who are lower quality than average have a higher chance of failing cohesion tests, and troops that are higher quality than average have a lower chance of failing cohesion tests. The further away from average quality, the more the chances of failing are adjusted.
