New Patch 1.28

Game just updated with new patch. Thanks for including the "Green Tile" much kinder to my eyes. Will start playing the game a bit more now. Thanks again in giving folk the choice to use it along with the "Japanese painting graphics".
I did think and hope these would grow on me, but for me the map just seemed bland and not very attactive as Pike and Shot. Which drew me in I am very fond of this style. So thanks for the hard work and now look forward to more gameplay with this infuriating but addictive game.

No worries the new map switching option will enable modders to include theirs in the cycle without upsetting the default ones. Hope someone ports the P&S tiles into SJ

I wish patch later could give players a chance to view the battlefield before showing the battle statistics and also showing lost units for both sides, like Battle Academy 2. Another not critical thing is that if any animation could be added to the battle (I don't know whether it is within the scope of current game engine). I know eye candy will not affect game mechanics. However, if it is done, it would greatly improves playing feel

. Anyway it is not that important.

You can see lost units during the battle by pressing K

I know during the battle we can see lost ones during the battle. However, I wish we could see enemy routed units and our own loss after the battle. Kind of a feel of accomplishment.

Fair enough.

Was hoping for the cloud of arrows from archer units when shooting. Does help to see who is shooting at your units. There was some mention of this being added to P&S at some stage as well.

Indeed. It isn't a simple task however, because it needs to go in the direction of the target rather than directly forwards like the musket smoke.

Good to know that the flight of arrows is being looked at RBS.

Don't hold your breath
The next game will certainly have visible arrows, but it uses an entirely different graphics system.

Next game. I am wondering what it will be.

It's already hinted in the other game sections of the forum.

Been thinking about this, a situation developed in a game I'm playing causing a unit of mine, with a General, to rout from shooting.
The unit in question was getting shot up but could not charge into the woods to take care of the dreaded Ming as it would become severely disordered and fail.
Help was on the way and would charge the Ming unit next turn, I thought that the Ming unit had fired at another of my units close by so decided to fire my Fragged General's boys thinking that there would be no return fire as the Ming had already shot........bad mistake ......the firing unit was some Ming bowmen that I had not spotted and so the Ming in the woods to the front of my Fragged General fired and my General broke and is still running a couple of moves later.
Getting back to the question of the Cloud of Arrows from archers, I don't think that the direction is as important as knowing which enemy unit actually fires so a cloud of arrows similar to the smoke from firearms would be a good start.

We know from the number of casualties which unit is targeted but yea we could use some visual arrows to show from the firing unit... it's not important that they take a direction... just the square ahead of them will do.
As of the 1.28... I'm back to Tenka Fubu and with the Taisho level it's a totally different story... we're 3-2 for me (yea I lost 2 battles!) and the situation is balanced after the first winter since no territory was captured by either side.
