Hi
How should I prepare and photograph unpainted minis. I am Ok and taking pics of painted ones, but getting the detail on the unpainted ones is the problem.
I tried a dark wash but it didn't work and I now paint them black and dry brush but its not great.
This is the sort of thing I am after http://www.xyston.com/ or this http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collecti ... /index.asp
Thanks Will

Well, you just stated my suggestions  I would try the inking again but, basecoat them white first, and then put them on a black background and see if that works?

THe Xyston ones look as though they are undercoated in either white or grey, with no dark wash.

I would try lighting from one direction only, probably above, and not using the flash on the camera. Have dark coloured surroundings so you don't get too much reflected light.

You could also postprocess the images digitally to boost the contrast.
