RBS Socket Bayonet Mod

Hi Richard,

This RBS Mod for Socket Bayonets, can you explain a bit more about it?

I assume it is contained within the $DEFAULT.BSF and COMBATTOOLS.BSF files included with the Poltava scenario? Will it work for any other scenario that I put it in?

Does it work for all Bayonet armed infantry, or is there a minimum quality level?

How does the Mod allow the Swedish infantry to charge cavalry, and not the Russian infantry? Is it their Salvo capability that is the key?

Hi Paul,

I am away from my computer currently so don't have access the the script files. It will work for other scenarios if you copy in those two files.

IIRC the bayonet mod is in GetImpactPOA() & GetMeleePOA() in CombatTools.BSF. It gives stationary steady bayonets +100 POA vs mounted troops (the same as pikes). Currently there is no quality requirement, but that could easily be added.

IIRC The charging thing is in ChargePermitted() which can be edited as desired. I think for the Swedish salvo troops it just looks for "Salvo" capabilty.

Thanks Richard,

It always used to be that it was pointless to give bayonets to a Pike and shot unit, is that still the case? If I give 80% bayonet to a unit that has 20% Pike will that give them the +100 POA?

No need, they already have the +100 POA
