game tip: order of combat

It took me forever to figure this out in my first campaign, so I thought I would post this for those just starting out:

You actually do more damage to units that are at full strength.

what that means is, units that do a lot of raw damage, but no shock damage, you want to hit the enemy with first. Especially units that have no retaliation. things like tactical bombers for example. as the enemy unit strength goes down, you will do less and less damage to it (supposed to mimic the troops taking defense positions, scatttering, etc). Use things that give good shock damage next. Artillery, flame tanks, things like that. Flame tanks or engineers have the bonus of also dis-entrenching the enemy unit. Then finally your grunts go; tanks, infantry, etc. Also, try to set it up so that you have a unit a space away that can finish off the enemy unit that will usually run at this point.

anywho, following this formula will save you a world of grinding.

good stuff icht, thanks. I didn't know about the engineers untrenching, but it makes perfect sense.
