Order of Battle moves to the frozen lands of Finland! Winter War Beta announced!
“The wolves will eat well this winter” – Anonymous Finnish officer, during a battle in the area of Suomussalmi
Only a few years have passed since Finland gained its independence in 1917 and the events of the following Civil War have led to a country that is recovering from fresh wounds. But the trials for this young Nation are not ended. The Soviet Union, considering that the Finnish-Russian borders were too close to Leningrad, demanded them to be moved westward and for the dismantling of all the fortifications that the Finnish had built in the Karelian Isthmus.
Following the Finnish rejection of these terms, the Soviets bombed Helsinki and invaded the country with over 400,000 soldiers. The Finnish Army could not possibly match the assaulting forces in terms of manpower and materiel and Finland’s destiny seemed already decided.
On the contrary, this was the beginning of one of the most epic defensive campaigns ever fought. Described by Harold Macmillan as “Thermopylae every day” and fuelled by Finnish Sisu, this was the start of the
Winter War!
After Order of battle: US Marines, developers
The Artistocrats are coming back with a new DLC, but this time we move to the Far North.
Order of Battle: Winter War is set during the war between Finland and Soviet Union, fought after only three months the Russian invaded Poland in agreement with the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.
This new expansion for Order of Battle includes the Winter War (1939-1940), the Continuation War (1941-1944) and the Lapland War (1944-1945). Players take control of the Finnish Army and, according to the shifting tides of war, against troops from Germany or the Soviet Union.
The game has reached the Beta Phase and we invite all the players to join and to help us in giving the final touches!
You can apply for the Beta here!

No offense, but.. I'd LOVE to play all this content and include it in my historical let's play. However... the game has TONS of technical problems still and an insanely bad performance and zero feedback about the game mechanics ingame (I still have zero clue how spotting is supposed to work). I feel like that should take priority over new content first.

Exaguration isn't going to solve anything. If you have specific questions or problems feel free to post about in on the OoB forums and we'll be happy to provide the info you need

Just chiming in, since you could think the developers are biased (naturally) - as a player I concur you are exaggerating in this case. Definitely not tons of problems and nothing game-breaking. Have you tried playing with the latest patch improving performance (personally, I didn't have an issue with speed on my system, albeit it's old, but your mileage may vary)? Spotting is explained between the manual, tooltips, and tutorials - I don't know exactly where I got the info, but I'm not confused about it. Of course, I'm not saying your experience is not valid - post about specific problems and I'm sure you'll get a response.

Considering there's tons of posts in the technical forum, posts on steam, youtube videos that clearly show the bad performance during the AI turn I doubt I'm exaggerating, But oh well. Not my game to sell.

Hi KeldorKatarn, we recently released a beta patch which improves AI execution speed (we're hoping it should provide a significant improvement). Have you tried it? If not, you can find it here:

KeldorKatarn, I agreed with mhladnik, I play this game since the beginning as I would say it have bugs issue but not game breaking and developers is doing a great job at bug squash fyi.
Information is missing out in some instance but again like mhladnik said post it and it will be answered. I do critize this game but lets be fair it's a good game and given the right push this game can be a great game. I still play it and I am looking forward to winter war.
And as a note if you take time to read forum you would appreciate what these guys are doing for OOB given that they are a small team I would say they produce big result. I ve seen many great games by big company who have big teams and create little result so my bet is on Artistocrats at the moment.

Sure, there are some problems here and there but overall I find the quality of the game to be superior.
Here's a suggestion: You like what you see so far? You want these guys to succeed and continue? Then you don't come on to a game expansion announcement thread and kill the buzz with off-base comments about "TONS of technical problems still and insanely bad performance."
Instead, you realize that most people here like this game, appreciate the enhancements and troubleshooting the developers have done so far, and are eagerly looking for new content. New customers would definitely help that happen.
However, you do say those intemperate things, without elaborating or proving them, if you are trying to sabotage like a troll and drive new customers away.

My 2 bits worth,
I have been reading a lot about how slow or how long you have to wait, for OoB Pacific during gameplay. I do not know about other countries armies, but the American GI was always faced with "hurry up and wait".
Reality; it is slow at times. I would suggest that perhaps the game developers should accept the reality, and take a different approach. I would suggest running newsreels of the time period, in the message area (I realize it would take longer), while the AI is doing it's thing. Or perhaps something else, like estimated wait time is (5) minutes.
Game play is much more important, than speed. There are a lot of fast, poorly done games out there.
To the developers; you can never make this game "fast enough", with present computer hardware, many do not run game machines (and they are not fast enough either (you still wait)). If you compromise too much, everyone will be unhappy.
One other mention, I would rather all the "AI thinking, plotting, etc" be done at one time. My hope is you would get a smoother game play of the AI's turn. It does bug me when the AI gameplay keeps stalling, skipping, whatever, which does effect the karma of the game. Not enough to stop playing though. What I do now is leave, get up and do something else, while the AI has it's turn.
Overall, I really like this game, I give it the top rating and recommend it to others.
