Order of Battle moves to the frozen lands of Finland! Winter War Beta announced!

“The wolves will eat well this winter” – Anonymous Finnish officer, during a battle in the area of Suomussalmi

Only a few years have passed since Finland gained its independence in 1917 and the events of the following Civil War have led to a country that is recovering from fresh wounds. But the trials for this young Nation are not ended. The Soviet Union, considering that the Finnish-Russian borders were too close to Leningrad, demanded them to be moved westward and for the dismantling of all the fortifications that the Finnish had built in the Karelian Isthmus.
Following the Finnish rejection of these terms, the Soviets bombed Helsinki and invaded the country with over 400,000 soldiers. The Finnish Army could not possibly match the assaulting forces in terms of manpower and materiel and Finland’s destiny seemed already decided.
On the contrary, this was the beginning of one of the most epic defensive campaigns ever fought. Described by Harold Macmillan as “Thermopylae every day” and fuelled by Finnish Sisu, this was the start of the Winter War!


After Order of battle: US Marines, developers The Artistocrats are coming back with a new DLC, but this time we move to the Far North.

Order of Battle: Winter War is set during the war between Finland and Soviet Union, fought after only three months the Russian invaded Poland in agreement with the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

This new expansion for Order of Battle includes the Winter War (1939-1940), the Continuation War (1941-1944) and the Lapland War (1944-1945). Players take control of the Finnish Army and, according to the shifting tides of war, against troops from Germany or the Soviet Union.

The game has reached the Beta Phase and we invite all the players to join and to help us in giving the final touches!

Awesome choice! And original approach to keep the campaign on the Finnish side and vary the enemy/accompanying forces. Plus, I see most of the Finnish units having been made so, well done in the attention to detail department too!

Is this going to be a standalone game or will it require the original OoB:P be installed first?

WInter War will require the standard game, similar to the other additions Morning Sun and Marines.

Atleast this way I am not having to beat the Finnish defences. Now if you had hero units we could see the Finnish sniper Simo "Simuna" Häyhä, for those that don't know he had over 500 confirmed kills. Which is greatest number ever achieved by any sniper, was also nick named white death by the red army.

Looks good will be interesting, will be adding it as soon as its out, thanks.

Few heros and also some medals be nice add.

The sniper could be used as a leader (if he's not in already).

I believe the stated plan is that all WWII-related conflicts are to be part of this one game, officially.

However, it remains a mystery, for now, whether the name will change (the subtitle Pacific is becoming increasingly imprecise) and whether some pieces of future content are going to be standalone (yet integrated in the same game) so as to provide alternative entry points for new players less interested in the original Pacific campaigns. Just my musings, I think I would go that way, as it sounds reasonable from a marketing standpoint (but feel free to correct me).

I think it will change name to OOB - WW2 or something similar.
With the addition of Winter War we're in Europe.

I just hope they dont forget/neglect ships in furture installments, including ship carryover.

The trivector of land, air and sea is really what sets this game apart.

My wish would be a GRAND Allied and Japanese pacific campaign.

A future installment in line with the previous "one focus" could be a Commonwealth Pacific campaign.

Only problem I have with this game is that it ruined PG/PC for me. I even bought Soviet Corps, but it just doesn´t cut in anymore in comparison to OOB

In my opinion Soviet Corps has the best designed scenarios I have played in PzC!
I still like them both very much, OoB has a better engine I think but PzC is still very much fun.

For me the perfect game would be mix

Best of Panzer Corps, Panzer General titles, OOB, Blitzkrieg all mixed together.

Question, when is the release date of Winter War. Is there something known?
