Amphibious tanks listed as naval units - problem

I'm playing the Marines expansion. Amphibious tanks come in handy. But if they finish a scenario on a sea hex, they get listed as naval units in the next scenario. This means they can't be deployed anymore and are in fact lost.

Are you sure you can't switch to land mode in deployment phase before you deploy?
This is possible for other dual types, AT/AA, Art/AT, torpedo/bomber.

I haven't found a way. Unlike AT/Art etc, the option to change to another stance appears only after placing it on the map. But it can't be placed at all since this campaign doesn't have naval core units.

That sucks. Remembers me how often I missed a transport switch button when I wanted to advance a few hexes with the protecting LVT transport and not the Marines. That bug sounds like such switch-button is badly needed all times.

Any amphibious units should automatically revert to their original (land-based) types at the scenario end. This was specifically changed in the Marine patch to deal with this issue. I'll run another test to see if this is working correctly (according to this report, I guess not).
@Horst: Transports are always more vulnerable to attack than their default unit types. So there should never be a reason why you'd want to use them unless it is to move further than the default movement range.

That argument is not very mod-friendly. I play with my own unit stats where transports like the LVT have proper defense values.
