As Polaris Sector look interesting for me, I have to ask for the minimum requirements?
Slitherine names Windows Visa as minimum (and DirectX V9.0).
I have DirectX9, but only Windows XP. Do anyone know, if it works with XP too (or has even tried it).

Can it be played without any Internet connection?

I've seen there is a boxed version offered by Slitherine. If it's like at Soviet Corps (I own the box), it can be played without any Internet.
Because of my slow UMTS Internet connection I don't want any Internet in games.

Yes it can,however please note all the updates/patches are downloaded via Internet

I've access to another PC (without any game) with fast Internet access. As long I don't need to use my gaming PC, I can even load big updates from Internet. In this way I handle my Panzer Corps games...

I understand there is no official test with Windows XP.
As I'm not the only one which still uses Win XP, I hope someone try it and can tell me, if it's generally running.

It works on XP just fine for me. It's even stated in the manual that comes with the game (probably in the printed booklet too).
Might even work without DirectX (using OpenGL).
Does not require an Internet access.

I build and test it on Windows XP without Internet connection, so it should work.
