New game proposal

I've always said that Panzer Corps, the game, was sized wrongly, with battalion or company sized units engaged on strategic sized maps with strategic objectives (mostly).
Understandable, I guess, as an initial effort.
And, I understand that now most gamers seem more interested in Soviet Corps and DLCs for the Allied or US Corps ala standard present day Panzer Corps.
When the design staff recovers from its exhaustion and supreme efforts, perhaps, they might consider "Panzer Corps: Division Commander," utilizing the same exact game system (on an authentic division/battalion/company scale) and rules but branches out into the myriad exciting *tactical* divisional battles along the Russian front (my preference, to start) too numerous to recount. Add attached units, Axis Allied (Spanish Blue, Slovak Motorized, etc.), special units, etc., while utilizing heroes, reinforcements, withdrawals, promotions, demotions, refit, transfers, etc.
YEARS worth of gaming material there...perhaps...endless.

Create a scenario like this yourself instead of taking the lazy route like this

COMPANY?? I thought the general consensus on the unit size was somewhere between regiment and division.

It isn't that hard to imagine Poland to be the size of a small town though. Then (*puff of smoke*) you have an ideal scope game. If not, zjorz did suggest the editor, which is very easy to use.

My impression on unit sizes.

Line infantry and Cavalry = regiment
Engineers and Bridge units = battalion
Armor, Artillery, and AT = battalion
Fighters, Bombers, Tac Bombers = Staffel or Squadron
Recon still undecided, could be a company as they lack the durability of a battalion

These seem to fit well with my knowledge of the Orders of Battle.

When I look at a typical PC game/battle order of battle I see maybe 4 to 5 panzer battalions or panzer grenadier battalions with platoon sized units.

Zjorz: Thinking is not "lazy," not all of us are modders.

You don`t need to be a modder to use the editor.

I don't think that the "size" issue is really important. There is one and only one improvement IMHO that would be a quantum leap - flexible/random deployment and order of battle for AI. Right now, the only fun is the first playthrough. In some instances, this has been marred by very challenging scenarios, which in turn, I suspect, have been designed to make a replay still challenging. Can't have it both ways (fun as the first try and all subsequent ties) unless there are different configurations that one would face. I think that we need a fresh set of facts in every deployment (even if the AI unit pool is kept constant).
