How many units?

Hello,
How many units can be used in a custom scenario? How many. planes, tanks, soldiers, population centers, hangers, oil, fuel... how many of these can be used in one game, both sides?

Earle, I doubt that you will get a quantified reply but from experience, I can advise you to not add too many units which require AI movement and action. Static AI units are fine, but if you have too many AI units fulfilling directions, it really drags the game down especially now in 2.3.8.

So it's not so much "How many units?" but "How many units under orders." If you want, I will give you a count of the latter in my scenario which is currently dead in the water with 2.3.8.

I was trying to do a scenario with (119) active AI units, it usually crashed or stalled, as the AI entered the game.

I have spent a lot of time on what now appears to be a hopeless endeavor.

I need a realistic number of active (AI) units, I'm sure there are "issues" like memory etc. But, still, there has to be a ballpark number of active (AI) units.

I run an Intel NUC6i5SYH (i5 processor, IRIS-6 on board graphics).
(16) GB RAM
Windows 10, 64-bit
Sony (47) inch monitor

I do not have a huge video card, BUT, I can play any of the scenarios that come with the game.

So... How many ACTIVE (AI) units can be in action at one time?

Erik?, do you know?

Adherbal? Do you know?

I would really appreciate a solid answer,

No, I have no clue...
I have mostly designed multiplayer scenarios.
But if you like, I could always download your 119-scenario and see if it runs.

There is no hardcoded limit. But for non-static AI tasks I would suggest no more than 6-8 units per team.

So in a game basically (14) to (16) fighters/bombers could be ACTIVE AI???

The scenario will not load at all in 238, thank you for the offer of your time.
I really love this game, and am sorry that I cannot do what I wanted. I will try a smaller one.

Earle, before you abandon ship (like I almost did), try the beta patch that they posted here:

So the answer to this question has now changed as a result of this patch: "So... How many ACTIVE (AI) units can be in action at one time?"

Heh, in a rather amazing coincidence, I also have exactly 119 Japanese units in my scenario (did you steal my scenario? :( ), of which 111 are constantly "under orders." That is what was killing the AI playing time in 2.3.8. It's moving along much better in 2.3.9b, however. Try it!
