bug with ground forces and build queues

One of my planets was in danger of been invaded, so I queued up some ground attack craft, marines, and tanks.

But the planet was invaded when most of the ground attack craft in the queue was built, but not all, say 20 out of 25? So I had a lot of ground troops left in the build queue.

As the planet was in danger of been taken over, I dropped marines, tanks and ground attack craft onto the planet using a troop carrier.

Once I had defeated the enemy, I had a good quantity of ground troops left on the planet.

With no need for the troops I had queued up to build, I "destroyed" them in the queue, but when I did so, the troops standing on the ground vanished too.

Tried a few times, got the same result, in the end I loaded the troops back onto the troop ship, and then deleted the troops in the queue.

Anyone else noticed this?

Yup, i had that occurence before too.

This can also be a side-effect of "repairing" troops. When you lose some of your troops, they become "damaged' and need "repair" when the battle is over. For this repair they are automatically added to the build queue. But they are instantly available for pick-up by transports or another combat.
