It would really be nice if this game came with a vassalization mechanic so that I could vassalize people if I want. My current strategy in my playthrough is to prepare as much as possible for the appearance of the final boss race in the game. Since im am both in the center and an inner most section of one of the spirals of my Sa galaxy my strategy is to conquer as much of the core and inner most parts of the spirals as possible, make allies where I can, especially along the outer reaches to act as a buffer to any incoming attacks. This is where vassalization would come in handy since I would not have to conquer these alien races entirely but still ensure they were firmly tied to me and join me in the event of war at the end
