Polaris Sector Suggestions

Hey,

A few ideas that were most likely already suggested for Polaris Sector, but here goes:

Ships:

* Auto-design and auto-updated ship designs - manual design is fine and well, but we don't always have full time for that.

* Design templates - we need general templates we can work with and alter instead of building every design from scratch.

* A general question - how do I delete ship designs?

Interface:

* Add an option to disable ALL planned colonization with a single button - sometimes I get carried away, and my home planet can't stop building colony ships to do anything useful.

* Better automation for colonization - if I already have ready colony ship(s) sitting idle somewhere because of a failed colonization attempt, send those ships instead of building new ones.

* Better/customizable prioritization for auto-colonization - terran before yet another dwarf planet, closer instead of farther, farther instead of closer to grab land as fast as possible and then colonize inwards, etc.

* Better filter for auto-pause - we need an option to regulate the auto-pause, especially when the empire grows larger.

* Find ships, fleets and planets easier - especially troublesome on larger empires, I constantly seem to lose my fleets and finding specific planets is especially daunting.

Game Design:

* More unique races - yes, it can be a huge pain to balance, but add something to spice up the gameplay, such as unique abilities per race, unique research capabilities per race, unique ship abilities per race (stronger/faster/tougher/innate scanning ability/more space inside ships, etc.) This may already be implemented, but in that case it is important to notify that when picking a race to play with, as it drastically affects the player's choice.

* Neighboring empires - it's not logical that on the largest of maps, all the races start clustered together. Give us more elbow room or at least an option to choose so when starting the game.

* Planet placement per race - In two consecutive games with the Vagalars I had multiple terran planets nearby. My major playthrough with the Logans had only one terran planet in a quarter of the biggest galaxy and hundreds of radioactive/dwarf planets all throughout the horizon. Coincidence? I'm not so sure...mix and match a little more, please.

* Faster research - Give the player an option to choose a bit faster research, as waiting for so long to get basic improvements can get same-y, as everyone seem to have the same techs almost halfway through the game, regardless of sliding research bars.

If I might add some ideas, with the hope I am not repeating previous suggestions :

- I would like to have an icon on the star-map, which could be turned on/off from the settings menu, showing the planets where I have built a shipyard. I normally don't build shipyards on all my planets so when you get a big stellar empire, it is quite hard to remember which planet has shipyard;
- an option to browse among the inactive ships (colony ships, explorers and spies);
- an option to delete obsolete ship templates;
- some kind of auto-upgrade of ship templates (for example like those in swords of the stars 1) after scientific breakthroughs are made.

You can delete ship designs easily enough --- select a design. There are 2 or 3 icons to the right of the design name---I believe they are Edit, Copy, and Delete. I don't think you can delete a design if there are ships of that class active in the current game (might be wrong).

If you wish to clear out the ship designs from older games, just wipe out the designs stored in [User]\My Documents\My Games\Polaris Sector\DESIGNS before restarting the client.
