Purpose of Gravity resonance tank

What is purpose of Gravity resonance tank? It has 1 square smaller size than Standard fuel tank, but for same capacity requires 700 instead of 400 energy.
Using Nuclear reactor (5*5, 3000 energy = 83.333 energy per square) it means that GRT needs more actual spaces than SFT. (with more efficient power source it is better somewhere around 800 energy per square, so I guess never)
Therefore I see only two advantages: Because of different shape it can be placed on some otherwise unusable squares and if there is otherwise unusable energy balance, this can squeze in and therefore be usefull.
Is it supposed be this way?
On second thought, it is not so small advantage and makes both components useful (but I don't consider this much fun).
