Hi, thanks for assistance.
I've just downloaded the patch, but when installing in the setup process it shows the standard Destination Dir: C:\Programmi\Commander - Europe At War
Than I change to the one containing the game on my PC: F:\Giochi\Commander - Europe At War
but a message appeares: This is an add on installer. The directory you have selected doesn't contain the target application. Please choose another one.
I've tried to let it go to the standard one, but same message.
Can you tell me which Dir to choose?
Thanks a lot, I know you're working hard to fix this.
I appreciate.
Game's running

I've got a new. A good new.
The game is working now.
I didn't use the hotfix, because of the problem I've posted up here.
I've noticed that the hotfix was similar to the update to ceaw_italian_v1.06.exe (but in english maybe) so I've uninstalled the java and than installed it again.
Than I've installed again the ceaw_italian_v1.06.exe.
After this the game is working.
Don't know why, but it's working...better so.
I'm tring to do the same on the laptop.
I'll keep you updated.
Ciao
Notebook still not running...

I've tried to solve the problem on the notebook bat CEAW is still not working.
I'll try coping the entire folder of the installed game from the PC1 now working, to the laptop.
I'll keep you updated.
If you try a better solution, post it please.
Thanks, bye.

Ok, the hotfix was only for the English version - I forgot. We are still testing it so not built other languages yet. If you are still having problems we will build the Italian version for you and see if it helps.

Hi, I'm out for work in these days, however I've downloaded the italian patch right now.
I'll let you know in the next days if it is the last episode! (I hope)!
I'll try it as soon as I can.
Thanks a lot for your effort.
Best regards.
It was a time of troubles in the laptop empire...

Well as it seems it was not the last episode...
THE ERROR STRIKES BACK! only on my laptop...don't miss it.
And I'm not missing it at all!
I really don't know wath to do with it, I've tried many solutions...with JAVA or the game.
I think it must be a conflict with the JAVA versions but...
Any idea?
Thanks bye

What exactly happens on the laptop now? Is it any different after the patch?
Nothing different

Hi,
well no, there is no difference with my laptop. I'm having the same problem since I've installed CEAW at first. The JVM could not be started....
I tried all the patches and settings and different versions of JAVA, but nothing changes.
I've updated all the pc drivers and so on.
Don't know.
I've decided to remove completely CEAW from the notebook.
As it seems, I'm lucky if I can use it at home...however I'm so sorry because I really have few days at home, because I am a crew member on planes and as you can imagine I really have a little time at home and this time cannot be used to play PC games...I was in need of CEAW on laptop to spend some relaxing time when I'm out.
Well, I've no more to say. I'll check this forum when I'll have time to see if there is some good new.
Thanks,
flyingfish

So if I understand it correctly, you applied the 1.06 italian hotfix on top of the 1.06 patch and are running as administrator but game could still not run on your Vista Laptop?

Hi Johan,
Sorry if sometimes I get a bit rude...Here the weather is really hot, we usally reach 42°C about 107.6°F in the day, and you can understand...
My laptop runs XP Home ITA, and I've installed the 1.04 version from Leader, not downloaded.
It does not work, so I've updated to 1.06_ITA, but nothing changed. So I tried the HotFixes; same.
I've tried to work on JAVA (upgrade-downgrade, and so on) because the problem is there in the Java Virtual Machine, maybe in the sys reg, don't know I'm still working on it.
However at the moment I've updated the sys drivers, too, but no changes.
Thanks.
I apologize for my previous message, I was too much polemic.
I really appreciate your job.
We know you're doing your best.
Bye flyingfish.

Just to be very clear, have you right clicked on the desktop icon for the game and selected Run as Administrator?
Cheers

What is the resolution of the screen on the laptop? Have you tried running the game in windowed mode?
Cheers

Hi, good moring.
Yes' I've tried reducing the resolution from 1280x800 to 1024x768, 1024x600 and 800x600 and also changing the value WINDOWED_MODE in settings.txt, with no effects.
Yesterday I've installed the CEAW_1.04 EDITOR and it runs, but with a problem I'm going to explain:
the editor starts but I only see the map and the two buttons on the top (map and country) but I have nothing at the bottom.
I don't have the horizontal sliding bar and no editor control panel (load map, save map, x pos, y pos, and so on).
It seems like it only shows (load) 4/5 of the screen. The last 1/5 at the bottom remains down, unreachable.
Can this be useful
Thanks, bye

For the editor you need at leist 1024x768 in order for it to show the whole layout. Editor was just a developers tool so we have not spent too much time shaping it up but gave it away for those brave enough to cut through the bushes
