How does 3-6 players work? How are the units distributed? Since this likely means there will be multiplayer players on one side, does this mean this could be played 2p co-op against AI?

(As a side question, it says this is standalone for new players, but on steam it says you need the base game. How does it work?)

So is the 1-6 players a mistake or has this question been missed by the moderators?
