Messina

So having no Italian units I'd resigned myself to a MV. However after a few turns and startlingly small resistance, especially in the north, I began pushing forward. I manage to take the US airbase, when suddenly...at least a dozen units spawn all around my task force and annihilate it from all sides. In fact a Priest spawned ON my StuG, fired, and then promptly vanished into thin air.

What's puzzling to me is that in the Scenario Editor it looks like all those units should have been on the map from the start, and there are no scripts for additional spawns. Is this is a bizarre bug, or intended to simulate further Allied forces arriving from further inland?

Hi Kolaris, I checked with the Editor, this M7 Priest has a trigger to appear on turn 6, like a lot of other Allied units. So what is happening is that these units are suddenly spawned on the map at the beginning of Allied turn 6 and immediately become active.

The unit is already shown in the Editor but its actual appearance in the scenario is subject to a trigger. For example, you can already see any capturable units on the map as well, but these spawn only under specific circumstances. You can see more info if you select 'Edit - Units' from the pulldown menus, and press Shift + left mouse button on a unit (you may have to switch view between ground/air for aircraft).

Ah, my mistake. Thanks for the Editor lesson!
