Hi chalau,

Could you grab the output log file and upload it here? That will help us identify the issue.

Order of Battle Pacific need some technical help

Could someone help please.
1) Have been playing Order of Battle Pacific for about a year. Today, playing as Japanese in the Java invasion scenario in the Campaign, the screen froze. Switched off computer and re-started it and it came up with the picture of the marine and the "start game" button. Pressed this and the screen showed me the menu to either: play the original unmodded game or play the Battle of Britain mod. Clicked the unmodded option to receive the option to load the game, but nothing happened. Screen went completely blank and was frozen. Switched off again and this time clicked the B of B mod and got same result. Completely flummoxed!

I now can't start this game at all as a result of this.

2) Yesterday purchased as a new module Order of Battle Morning Sun (disc with additional download). Am awaiting disc, but successfully did the download. It didn't place an icon on my desktop to start the game. Previously with a number of Slitherine products (Panzercorps, Battle Acamemy family etc) this has always happened. i.e. the icon to start the game has been placed on my desktop. Will I have to wait to receive the disc in order to have a start game icon installed? My 16 figure number ends in 2562.

Is Morning Sun flawed in some way, in that the original game has now frozen and there's no start-up icon (for Morning Sun).

Thanking you in advance for any advice

Hi John,

The Morning Sun DLC is accessed through the campaign menu in-game.

Regarding the problem launching the game, it's difficult to say what the problem could be, but a quick thing to try would be to reset your game settings.

You can do this by renaming or deleting the following folder:
PC: \Documents\My Games\Order of Battle - Pacific\Settings
Mac: Users\<username>\Order of Battle - Pacific\Settings

Note that this will reset your in game preferences, but not affect any saved games or MP games.

Thanks for your help.

Will try to access Morning Sun by using the campaign menu.

I'm sorry, but my computer skills are virtually nil. Can you advise me in layman's terms how I go about renaming or deleting the folders that you mention. Basically, I don't know how to locate them. I have a Dell Inspiron PC and use Windows 7. I think it would be best to delete them as I wouldn't have the knowledge to rename them.

Sorry to for my lack of computer skills. I only use the PC to play games/ e-mails and internet.

No problem.

From the start menu, open 'Documents'. In Windows 7 this is near the top right of the start menu.

In Documents, look for a folder called My Games. Open this by double clicking on it.
In My Games, you should see a folder called 'Order of Battle - Pacific'. Open this by double clicking on it.
In this folder, you should see a list of folders including 'Campaigns', 'Mods' etc.
Click once on the folder called 'Settings'
Press the delete key on your keyboard.
I'm not sure, but I think Windows 7 might ask you to confirm that you want to move the folder to the Recycle Bin. If it does, press yes.

Try launching the game. Hopefully your problem should be solved.

Hi chalau,

I suggest you try the steps I have described above to reset your settings.

If this does not resolve your problem, please post here and attach the game log file so that we can see what the problem is.

Instructions on how to find the log file are described in this post: http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtop ... 72&t=64167

Thanks again for your help---much appreciated.

I'm still unable to access Morning Sun. The in-game Campaign menu only gives me the usual O o B Pacific options viz: Boot Camp, Allies or Japan. I'm mystified as to how to access the Morning Sun option. Tried clicking everything else but still can't find a way in!

On a brighter note, followed your excellent instructions as to curing the game "freeze" and was able to gain entry; thanks again for that,

Look forward to hearing from you.

If you have the Order of Battle: Pacific on Steam and you have bought the Morning Sun expansion in our store, then you need to redeem a Steam key and activate the expansion on your Steam account.

To redeem a Steam key, you need to do the following steps:

1. Register the game serial number in your Slitherine account:
http://www.slitherine.com/register_serial.php

2. Once you have registered the game in your account, you can redeem a Steam serial key:
http://www.slitherine.com/my_page/steam_serials

After having the key, activate the game on your Steam account:

Thank you again. I'd be completely lost without your kind assistance.

I bought Order of Battle: Pacific as a "PC Physical with Free Download" in June 2015. My 16 digit licence key ended in 0947. I received a PC DVD and a download link. I was not aware that Steam was involved and I have no idea if it is or not. Surely it is the DVD that is the main function, with a download added?

I would be most grateful if someone at Slitherine can advise me if Steam is involved in respect of my original purchase or isn't in with regards to their game, as the procedure to register etc with Steam may be a red herring and looks intimidating, to say the least.

Do you agree that It doesn't seem unreasonable when you pay over £20 for an "add-on" to an existing game, to expect that you should be provided automatically with an icon so that you can play the game or at least given a simple procedure to start.

I was going to purchase the Marines "add-on" when it came out, but the procedure to play looks so complicated that it would deter most normal game-players.

Thanks again. Much appreciated.

I thought that you had your game on Steam like chalau.

If you don't have your game on Steam disregard my previous post. What version are you running? You can check the number in the game main menu.

Hello Again.

The version is 1.9.4e. which I assume is the latest version.

Hope this will help to resolve the mystery as to why I can't access the new module.

Thanks once more.

I'd like to thank everyone who took the trouble to resolve these difficulties, your help is much appreciated.

I was able to download update 2-3-8 and am now able to access Morning Sun.

I will certainly now buy the new US Marines "add-on" as well.

Best regards

john

Order of battle Pacific. Playing China campaign. Up to Nanching scenario. Game has been getting slower and slower during AI move. Up to 15 minutes before player turn begins. Then in Nanching scenario starts out OK with deployment turn and first Japanese move. But after ending 1st turn Chinese turn never ends, Progress strip turns completely red but never moves to 2nd Japanese turn. Have restarted scenario several times. Waiting period, freeze time, is apparently forever, gave up after 3 hours of waiting. My system meets requirements: Dell PC XPS, Windows 7, 8.0 RAM, etc. OoB Pacific first series worked fine. Am playing through Steam account. Please advise.
