Hi All

Just a couple of quickies please on the Mongol Conquest era chaps. I have a long running project on painting these chaps that started for the other game... All seems clear as to the main FoG units for the moment (by inference from the Ilkhanids), but can I ask about:

(i) The Khitans? These of course are all in groups of five bases for the other game. dang. Will they be roughly the same, as in 3 types of mounted, all the same size? Will they be BGs of four bases or of six bases and can that vary (ie do I have to buy a few more Essex chaps to get one extra base each of LH, unprotected Cav and the Heavies, or can I get by with say 8 LH and four of the others (thus only having to buy a couple of LH packs))?

(ii) the unwilling unwashed slaves driven by whips... I have eight bases of these chaps, 6 figs to a base, on 40mm by 30mm. Is that ok? Will they fit in somewhere? Will they be merely the nicest baggage ever seen?

In regards to ii, according to Appendix 1, Mobs (saves) can be mounted between 5 to 8 castings per stand so you are ok there. As well as the 30 x 40 base size which is the stated size.

However in regards to i, I can not give a solid answer at this time. The Mongol Conquest lists are not officially out yet. So I am not positive how the Khitans will be treated in the Mongols.

I do know that a Khitan army list has been submitted for consideration. But a lot of feedback will be needed before it is final.

The trick w/ prisoner screens (Hd(I) in DBM) is that there are no rules for them in FoG. If you just use them as Poor Mob they still count 2 AP for army morale which is odd considering they were meant to be killed. Maybe a special rule so they count 0 AP like Scythed Chariots?

In regards to the Khitans, I would imagine that a choice in BGs sizes as you mentioned should be part of it. Whether it is 4-6 or 4-8 as both could be possible.

because of the use of shields, most mounted troop types may be protected with some Unarmored LH and Armoured heavy cavalry as options as well.

These are just my opinion based on what I have seen so far.
