Soviet Corps - Campaign Won't Initiate

For some reason the SC campaign mode does nothing when I click Play, just dumps me back to the main menu. The scenarios seem to be fine. I've tried reinstalling patch 1.25 but I just get a message telling me I don't have PC installed. Am I missing something obvious...? Thanks!
Update: Somewhat surprisingly, I seem to have found the fix for this via Steam. If you go to the game properties, in the Local Files tab there is an option to Verify Integrity of Game Cache. I ran this and it found three corrupt files, which Steam then automatically downloaded again, after which the campaign mode started straight off. And so, off to Khalkhin Gol! Good luck everyone...
