Hi

Only started playing last night after cursory reading.
Enjoyed it a LOT but one problem.
Can you move in the manoevre phase if you evaded in
the impact phase ?
I know you cant move if you charged.
But cant find any reference to the above.
Sorry if this is really obvious but i have looked in the book
and cant find it. :?

Quick answer after little thought: no. Although I do not have my rule book here at the office, and so may be contradicted by someone who is a better timewaster than I am.

If you evaded, it wouldn't be your movement turn...

Unless, unless, unless. You have a friendly BG charge in your impact phase, and lose so badly that is goes to broken and flees. The victorious enemy's pursuit move would contact one of your skirmisher BGs . . . .

Just a tad unlikely :) Can I play a game against you? :D

But in that case, I don't see any restriction on movement. IIRC it's only those broken, already
in combat or who charged in impact.

IIRC if a pursuing BG would contact an enemy able to skirmish away, the skirmishers skedaddle but it counts as happening in the following impact phase, so those evaders are not then able to move in their own sides manouvre phase. If the enemy contacted are unable to evade, then a combat occurs in the following impact phase.

Well...that's the way I've played things, hope I'm right!

That's only for determining when combat takes place, nothing about skirmishing being part of the next impact phase.

BTW, if you contact fresh enemy in the impact phase, you do the combat immediately.

If you move in the impact phase whatever the reason you cannot move in the movement phase

From the FAQ:

ix) TROOPS THAT MOVED IN THE IMPACT PHASE
Can troops move in the manoeuvre phase if they charged, pursued or evaded (unlikely but possible) in the
impact phase?
No
What constitutes a move for this purpose?
Any move by the battle group. This includes turning or placing/picking up portable defences, but not reforming,
conforming to enemy, or feeding more bases into an existing melee.

Ah, that's an addition to the rules restriction I hadn't seen. Useful to know.

It came about after someone asked if their English longbowmen could pursue in the impact phase then set stakes in the movement phase.

If you charge you can't move anyway that is clearly stated at the start of the movement rules. The bit about not being able to move if you pursued or evaded is extra but does make sense IMO.
