Britcon 2016 12-14 August
Posted: Tue Jan 26, 2016 11:49 am
Britcon ...
... is the UK's biggest multi-period, multi-ruleset wargames competition
... has events in over a dozen different rulesets and periods for you to take part in
... offers onsite Student accommodation and an onsite bar
... includes one of the North West's largest 2-day wargames tradeshows
... is held in Manchester only steps away from from Piccadilly Station
Yes, the largest event in the BHGS calendar will be returning (yes, we are in the same place for another year) to the now-familiar surroundings of UMIST in (always-sunny) Manchester over the Friday-Sunday of 12-14th August 2016.
At Britcon this year there will be one FoG:Renaissance period comprising:
15mm Renaissance, 800 points - any army (yes, we know - but there still probably needs to be at least one "open" competition in the year or we'd never have discovered the Sudanese , and almost everyone will bring TYW-type armies anyway so almost all of your games will be "in theme")
72" by 48" tables
We will be running at least 2 Britcon-specific amendments to the standard rules.
- 6 bases of foot battle troops (not including Commanded Shot or Artillery) must be included in each list for every Medium and Heavy artillery base used.
- Any unit of captured / uncontrolled artillery may be be permanently removed in the JAP by any un-engaged unit currently in contact with it.
(We might also add in the "medium and heavy artillery cant be deployed aiming into either flank sector" one too, but we're not sure yet.)
Games will be in the region of 3 hours 20 mins plus a 1-10 min(s) variable
Friday 1800 (earliest start), 2030 hours (latest start) - 2300ish close
Saturday 0815-1145, 1230-1600, 1630-2000
Sunday 0830-1200, 1300-1630
All players will play all 6 games, and all 6 games will be scored . (This is following several years of very low takeup for the "drop a round" option, some low-level muttering about the impact on final scores, and a dawning realization that mine and Kevin's lives would be made easier by using the standard BHGS software to manage the draw)
Umpires: Kevin Johnson
List Checkers: Kevin Johnson
List Deadline: 27 July
