I think I am going to create a website

I am realising here just how much I have written about Legion Arena, and how strongly formed my opinions have become.

But when I post here, no matter what gems of wisdom my words may contain, the post gets old and rolls off the page, never to be seen again by the eyes of mortal men.

So I think I am going to create a very simple little website, and start collecting some of this stuff in one place.

My question to Slitherine is, do you have support kits prepared, with buttons and banners and stuff? If not, can you put something together?

At a very minimum, if you can't find time in your budget for anything else, I'm sure you'll want to give me a button to link to your website.

I am emphatically not going to put together an ooh-wah, Flash-intensive, knock-their-eyes-out site. Just something simple and functional. On the other hand, I won't let it look like total ass, trust me :)

Ave possum,

Once again, right on the mark!!!

I whole-heartedly support such an excellent idea.

I too have noticed, with some dismay, my ancient words of wisdom gradually slip off the front page to get relegated to Legion Arena history. Although, with further playing experience and reading the input from my peers, some of my earlier efforts were a bit simplistic and perhaps a tad naive.

Will it be a "How to get the most out of playing Legion Arena" with bits from us all and with an index? A sort of, much needed, expansion on the manual? I've often thought than in order to tie my various topics together, I needed to create an index. This would have make it easier for new members to read through them, in sequence, with the added benefit of comments and ideas from informed members such as your own goodself, and others.

I will watch this space with great interest and anticipation.

Vale

That is a wonderful idea! Couldn't you use the banner at the top of this page?

Also, post your site once it is up, I want to see it! :P

great!

I also want to see your site.

especially ,command and control system seems to be really complex, (I realized this after I read manual),
and I want to know how to raise war elephants.

Sorry I missed this one. We dont have anything specific for a web kit but can give you all the components the game UI is made up of and you can pick & choose what you like. I think Grimsta has a copy of this too as he was lookig to do something similar. If you still want it mail me and I'll send you what we have!

possum, did you ever get a fan-site up?

No, I didn't.

To be honest, the lukewarm reception of my Britannicus mod convinced me that there's just not enough of a community out there to warant the work a site would take.

AFAIK, only 3-5 people ever played my mod. Now, those who did play it were very supportive, and generous with their praise, but...it just wasn't worth the sweat, tears, and huge amounts of my time that I poured into it.

For what little it's worth, I thought it was a damn good mod. I would even go so far as to say that, aside from the complete absence of videos, it equalled the quality of the original campaign.

I haven't tried you mod yet but will....as soon as i finish my Gaul campaign :?

Hehe, thanks, Anguille.

Re-reading my post today, I'm a bit embarassed. I didn't mean to come off quite so whiny, LOL.

And my point sure wasn't to denigrate the community. You guys are a magnificent crew. It's just that we are a relatively small community :)

And for me to make a website seems more like ego-boo than something that would be truly useful.

It has been tried a lot more than you realise, but as we've found with all our games, people tend to play single player off line and not comment on the forum. E.g. the original Legion has sold well over 150,000 units, and the demo has been tried by twice that number. It still sells every month, but we get very few posts in the forum.

I've checked the stats on the server and your mod has been downloaded 1400 times!

Of interest is the fact that July has had 500 downloads so far and is the highest single month, meaning it's being downloaded at an increasing rate. I think you can be sure many hundreds of people have played and enjoyed your mod, but unfortunately they just are not the sort of people who like to post comments on the web.

   amazing!!!! Totally off-topic, but can we get the (approximated) sales figures of games like CoW or Spartan??? 150,000 sold units is VERY good result for a small company like Slitherine (well, from the spanish point of view ...)

And cheers to Possum, one of the most valuable members of this community...well, I didn't play your mod  , I was busy playing something else (TOAW III, lately) but I can help you a bit, I'm gonna reinstall LA righ now and play your mod!!!! 1401 downloads!!!!
