Battle of Pilgram Help

Good Morning,
I'm currently having a little bit of difficulty with the Thirty Years' War campaign. I can't seem to get past the Battle of Pilgram (it's the first one in the campaign). I've tried it twice; the first time, I was outright routed, and the second time, I ran out of turns and the enemy escaped. In both cases, I attempted to advance as rapidly as possible, only to get bottlenecked near the two lakes, and then swarmed by enemy cavalry on the flanks. Am I doing something wrong here, or should I just try lowering the difficulty level (I'm playing on Sergent-Major-General)?

It's in French (which may not be a problem if you are indeed the King of Jersey), but anyway you can see what he does.

Thanks, rbodleyscott! It's quite an honor to meet you, considering that you're the one who wrote the rules for this game in the first place. These videos should be quite helpful to me. I don't speak any French (I'm actually from New Jersey, not Jersey), but I think I can figure out the gist of what I should do.
