I'd always stuck any available arty attachments into infantry (or cavalry) to add a bit of punch. But last time around, knowing I was facing the ever-smarmmier swarms of Prussians by Dead., I ran 1815 French infantry but added the available arty attachments into four small, medium artillery units, for a total of 12 bases of artillery. It proved quit effective, gaining those 4 extra base widths of artillery frontage. Am tempted to try it again!

Anyone else try similar?

I considered it but it only adds one dice to your fire and I suspect making the frontage wider is, at best, a mixed blessing.

I have, however, found large artillery units to be quite effective on occasion.
