We have not stared to think about the three periods for Campaign 2016. I have tried to find out whether Ben or Don was sorting it but have had no reply. Should we start putting out options our self?

These are the ones we did not go with last year: -

Americas before the arrival of the Spanish (Not a firearm or Horse in sight)
Any list North or South America pre 1522

Some early European ideas

French War of Religion 1562-1598
French Wars of Religion Catholic
French Wars of Religion Protestant
Elizabethan English
Early Imperial Spanish (Not Italy)

Wars in British Isles 1494-1603
Early Henrician English
Scottish
Border Reivers
Irish
Anglo Irish
Later Henrician English
Elizabethan English

Late European 1680 – 1699

According to our beneficent dictator (or Chairman to any other club) Don has volunteered to run this this year.
Would pop him a line and ask?
Will
(Already running two competitions at Campaign)

There will be an MK round in 2016 which is likely to be the last Saturday in November (being a council building linked to the church, they have 1st dibs on Sundays!)

Don,

I was referring to Campaign at The MKCentre.

Great to hear we will be having a one day competition later in the year.

Will one of them be 25mm?

I 2nd the request for a 25mm option as well. It would look good for the public, plus getting the 25mm toys is always good.

We've had a few early comps in the year (Usk and Burton), maybe have a later European war, so, Duty and Glory?

The decision on whether we play with big toys is down to who ever organises the competition. My only concern with 25mm is that it either has to be open or TYW as most players do not have more than one army.

In most cases if you like 25/28mm as a scale it's having enough notice to get them bought and painted. So an early decision helps a lot.

It seems the general consensus is that there should be a 25mm round and indeed, that is the most popular FoGR Period at Roll Call. I would prefer to have a theme as this is the principle of Campaign but agree that the theme needs to be sufficiently broad to allow a spread of armies.

As a 1st stab, how about "The demise of the pike" - Western Europe from 1618-1699? From what we have seen so far in 25mm, there does not appear to be any need to introduce foot/gun ratios, but do we leave it completely open or introduce a minimum Horse number?

650 or 700pts? (it will be a 6'x4' table)

Let me know and then we can firm up on the other two periods. I fancy something early and something central'south american (and no horses in sight!)

Depends if you are going to go for a fairly focussed set of historical opponent or not Don (which has been the way of MKWS in the past). If you go for that wide a set of armies it could be anything from Wars of Religion through to Duty and Glory.

It was intended to be a wide set as the main protagonists would be from TYW, ECW or D&G. If I was to limit the theme to tie in with past Campaign principles then it would likely be either TYW or ECW with ECW being my initial preference due to the limited troop types.

The slightly wider theme initially suggested was to encompass the vast majority of 25mm armies owned by the playing entrants. It would help if the entrants would give me their views on what they would prefer. I see the options being:-

1. Open
2. TYW
3. ECW
4. Demise of the Pike - 1618-1699

I'm happy to accommodate the majority view. Please let me know what you want.

"ECW, but without the Jocks" would seem to be fitting in the restrictive spirit of other Campaign themes :-)

Madaxeman,
:D
As a stalwart MKWS member for over a decade and a half, I am shocked and appalled by that very suggestion. Please retract immediately, as I find your comment inaccurate, there is no way we would ever leave a competition that open!
The true Campaign way would be 'ECW, 1643, January 23, between 2:30 and 2:34, only Jocks and Irish'! :p

Don, ECW please.
