Defensive Fire

So as I was playing last night, trying to recreate Flodden with English vs Scots I came across something I figured might be useful for the game.

It seems as though currently when a unit charges the defender does not get a chance to fire before impact. So my suggestion is that units facing the correct direction, not disrupted, in melee or disorded, and if the charge is from 2 or more hexes away, should be allowed a volley before impact occurs. For balance and realism sake this could be at half strength due to the hastiness of the fire.

Thoughts?

Salvo troops and regimental guns already have the effect of this volley taken into account in their Impact POA. Otherwise, this might be appropriate for archers, but not for other musketeers etc. who fired by rotation, rather than by volley. And of course archers will have had several opportunities to fire before the enemy actually charge them. The balance between movement distances and ranges in the game have been calculated to allow a sufficiency of fire before contact.

Okay, I guess that's fair enough. Thanks for the reply.
