How would you use 2 units of 4 light chariots effectively ?
What is their role ?

See tips 917 re chariots in Tactical Tips in General forum, and 914 and other discussion there and in other threads including the Bw/Sw ones relating to shooty cavalry. LCh that can shoot and fight use similar tactics. LCh have the advantages over cavalry of fighting one deep (so twice the frontage) with 2 dice in melee, the ability to shoot to their rear, and immunity to shooting and melee armor POAs, which makes using column and then turn/moving into combat is safer against a shooting adversary. Being one deep of course also allows them to evade.

If the British chariots are not allowed to toss javelins (the book has not arrived in these parts yet) but get a close combat POA (like my Gallic ones), they are going to handle similarly to the above for skirmish delaying tactics but like weak knights for close combat. This likely means action on the flanks to defeat enemy skirmishers and cavalry, menace flanks to force enemy responses, and opportunistic assaults on Medium Foot, shaken HF or flanks.

I look forward to seeing the British lists.

The British Chariots have light spear which is not a great POA, no shooting.
So I guess I use them as my " hard hitters" the rest of the army is LH and MF.

What a shame, back in childhood I had Airfix British chariots racing past Airfix Romans chucking javelins at them, among other things.

They are reasonably heavy hitters against some targets, and the Lt Spear does help on Impact, but against anything like Romans you will want to outwing them and maneuver for a flanking position. The column/turn can work well maneuvering on the flank.

Yeah , I wish they had javelins at least , but all the light horse have javelins so there's some fun there.

Just get them to fight each other or do some raiding north of the border!!
Romans legions- the games up lads-( ok so Colchester took a pasting)
Also don't forget that Airfix chariots would be classed as heavy on account of those solid wheels- surely.
