I'm sure this has come up before but it was raised at my club and I couldn't find the relevant section in the rules. Do shock cavalry have to test not to charge troops behind portable obstacles? I'm sure theres something that clearly states PO's do not exempt the test.

Page 63 gives an exception to the need to test not to charge for "fortifications other than portable defences" So you do need to test not to charge against portable defences.
(You may be getting confused with ADLG where I think impetuous mounted troops don't need to test against portable stakes).
