Artillery

Artillery seem to be a mixed bag;
Big boys like Bombards, onagers & trebuchets are worth their weight in gold if there's anything in front of them - trouble is though, they can't be moved & can only be deployed 10" in.
However, I was playing a game of Ptolemaics v Seleucids, & was informed that if I have FF, even Heavy artillery can be deployed further forward.

Is this correct & if so, how much farther forward & how much FF required per 2 Gun BG?

It's under the field fortification rules. If I remember correctly, deploy the FF 15 MU in, but only in the central sector. Two FF with two bombards behind is what I have used sometimes. At long range the arc of fire widens to two base widths. The extreme ends of the arc are not going to be effective with artillery alone, 1 dice will not cause a test. However, if there is something else shooting, then the -1 CT modifier for being shot at by artillery will apply.
