There's a lot of them Santa Huey Doodahs about. Must look at those...

I had a good close look at those cypriots and they look very tasty indeed. Armoured Defensive Spearmen, 8 pts a chuck, I have been waiting for an army like that... What do they look like in the 14th Century? Are they basically still like Normans or more like Hospitallers / Crusaders?

Anybody else any thoughts?

They're threatening to become the Patrician Roman of the FoG world. However, I think they'll suffer the same way that the Patsys did in DBM - work well for good players but not for average or worse players; e.g. Dave Handley places at comps with it whereas I wouldn't

Sorry to have to pull out - I shall be in Spain instead.

Shame to miss the return of JD to the competitive arena though! And of course Lynda's significant birthday?

Hope you guys have a great weekend.

I have just realised that Nik didn't do a blanket seek and destroy on the letter "c" and replace it with a letter "k".

Perhaps Nic has seen the light and realised he is flogging a dead horse. 8)

Gary Waterworth's army is Medieval Portuguese.

So tips on who will win and who will bomb?

As far as I can see there are:

- Four shooty cav armies (Skythian, Bosporan and Seljuz Turks)
- Three Combined Arms armies (Santa Huey Doodah)
- Five Heavy Foot based armies (2 Roman, 1 Portly Geezers, Cypriot and Seleukid)

I am expecting the Huey Doodahs to do fairly well against the heavy foot, but expect it to be tougher against the Shooty Cav armies. I had a practice game against Mongols last Monday and it was flipping hard work for both sides, with the Skythians shading a draw (11-9).

If the shooty cav can get massed on the heavy foot chaps then it could prove decisive, however the foot are well capable of pushing the cavalry off table...

I am anticipating a close hard fought contest between the shooty cav chaps. If the heavy foot chaps face each other then there should be a result. There might be a result beteen the shooty types and the heavy foot types (I am guessing in favour of the shooty cav types, as Crassus found in 53BC)

Prediction - Romans will not fare well.

You neglected my Alexandrians,or is that just discounting me,
My predictions ,its wide open I think most of us are of equal or close ability, certainly now Mr Dalby has had to pull out,he would have been my tip.
If the Heavy foot can get initiatve against the shooties then the chances of a result improve, the Cypriots have a chance being armoured, depends how much JD has practiced and how much red wine he can afford.
All in all looking like an exciting comp
About to start packing having just finished magna basing 160 elements in the past 2 days
