Needs sieges

The game also lacks any sieges. You could represent these by having the settlements in any province represented the way Lothar suggested having fortresses represented - not a single hex but a central hex (or hexes) surrounded by wall and tower/ fortification hexes which units can be deployed on and get a defence bonus from being on (defence bonus defending on how good the fortifications are).
If during a battle the invader doesn't choose to withdraw and doesnt lose all their units, but hasn't taken all the settlements and forts/castles on the province battle, map then instead of having to withdraw then they would have the option of either withdrawing or else staying to besiege some or all settlements/forts/castles or the province.
That way sieges of fortified settlements/castles etc and besieging them could replace the current system of taking time to destroy a province's economy to capture it (which seems frankly a bit bizarre). And, similarly, provinces with no serious fortified points could fall in a single turn, like level zero provinces do now.
There could also be a sickness among besiegers/besieged random event that could come up during any siege.
