How Many of the same Ally?

Hi All,

When choosing allies, can I choose the same ally more than once. e.g. Medieval Cypriot main army with 2 or 3 Mameluke allied contingents? I can't find it written anywhere that this is NOT allowed.

Cheers
Rob

The rules say what you can do not what you can't. There are a few lists where multiple of the same ally are specified, Aztec off the top if my head is one

Hi Phil,
I'm also not sure if your head is one off the top and I assume from your direct answer the answer is yes it is allowed.

Typically only 1 Allied Contingent can be used.

The list will specify if more than 1 is allowed - Eg Empires of The Dragon - Late Tang - p81 - up to 2 contingents of Later Horse Nomad allies may be used.

Often internal allies can have multiple contingents - Eg Rise of Rome - Gallic - p18 - up to 2 internal Gallic Allied Commanders are permitted.

I have not seen it written that the general restriction is one allied contingent from each allied list(unless otherwise stated). So getting back to my example, can a Medieval Cypriot main army have 2 or 3 Mameluke Allied contingents with each drawn from the Mameluke Allied list(from Swords and Scimitars)?

The answer is no. If you can have more than one it is stated, like, off the top of my head, Aztec
