Well it worked, that wasn't as near as hard as I thought it would be.

Some very good painting there mate, what i'd grade a 'quality gaming' paintjob.
The simple colours scheme is very effective and the muted colour accents work well.
For me i'd have done the red as a dark green (a bit more 'Moslem' in my head), but that's entirely a personal preference and not a criticism.
The bases let the figures down. I'm a great beleiver that a great base makes an average figure look good, and a poor base makes a great figure look average. i think the bases here detract from some very good figures.
I really like the pink noes on the white horse

and overall the figures are toned right with a good muted, simple theme.
Well done

I'm a big fan of simple color schemes. I prefer realism over flashy figures and so unless I'm painting heraldry or the like I prefer simple colors. I also rarely paint in the eyes because IMO from a distance I think a figure with dark eye sockets look better. I really hate when people paint the eyes in too big where the figures have that shocked look to them and if you paint them correctly they are hard to see from a couple feet away.
I thought of doing the red as a dark green but in the end decided to go with red.
I completely agree the bases are horrible. I haven't yet decided how I want to finish them. I was thinking of making them look like a sandy desert but I only have experience making the bases look like fertile terrain with grass. I guess I just use some sand?
I painted these figures because I had no experience painting horses before so I was also extremely happy with how the white horse came out. The dappled horse I think I highlighted the spots WAY too bright but have since painted another dappled horse where I thought it came out a lot better, so I learned some things on painting horses. I'm also hoping to learn better ways to base my figures. I started using wood filler to blend in the bases and it seems to be working pretty well. Maybe I'll try it with these Bedouin.
