Skirmish Mode

Played the new - very very early stage - skirmish mode for the first time, and got beaten by the AI :)

Sounds nice am very looking forward skirmish as should get me thinking in lots new and fun ways to beat AI

Can anyone elaborate exactly what differs skirmish mode from ordinary scenarios ? Is the AI more flexible because it is not scripted or how does it work ?

It will allow you to play on randomly generated maps (selected from a list of templates such as "islands" or "jungle") with a dynamic setup of up to 4 players (you + up to 3 AI opponents or teammates).

Alas the AI still requires some more time before it is competitive, so it's unlikely it'll make it into the Morning Sun update. Regardless, we hope to do a detailed preview about this new game mode as soon as possible.

In retrospect, most AIs in ANY game were pretty bad. But then again, Order Of Battle has potential when it comes to enhancing the AI's Scripting and calculations :D .

Is the skirmish mode still alive and planned for a future update or release? Also I would really like to see some new scenarios along the lines of the fork, bootcamp battle, and jungle. It's getting old playing the same couple of multiplayer scenarios over and over. I love the game, but need some fresh scenarios.

Certainly, things still on our list (and in various stages of development) are (among others): Skirmish mode, direct MP, unit counters, campaign editor, steam workshop support.

Direct MP is a likely feature for the next update in a few months from now, which should also come with some new maps to give MP some much needed love and attention :)

I'm guessing... But if it allowed you to play 'online hotseat' without having to up/download each turn, that would be an improvement.
Then you could study the map and plan your move during your opponent's turn.

Like any real-time multiplayer game: Both players are connected and see eachother's moves and chat messages instantly.
