Pike block graphic

Making graphic mods for Pike & Shot is probably at the bottom of my to do list. I generally like the way things look, and the one or two things I don't like don't really bother me enough to do anything about them.

Having said that, I've noticed that the pike block graphic seems to confuse a lot of people, especially those who are unfamiliar with the period.

I was playing around with the shift+3 button combination yesterday, and zoomed in a lot closer to a pike block than I usually do. I was delighted to notice that there has been a gentle application of alpha channels along parts of the sides (the vertical part) of the pike forest, just enough to make them slightly transparent.

I was wondering if anyone had tried experimenting with making the pointy end (the top) of the pike forest slightly transparent in a few scattered places.

If someone who wasn't aware of what they were looking at saw parts of a few hats and uniforms peeking through the top of the pike forest, they might not misinterpret it as a square block sitting on top of a bunch of infantry.

Even if you weren't a visual innocent it might look a tad better than it does now (though it might look worse).

Either way the graphic as it stands doesn't particularly bother me, though what I've described (a layer with a light speckling of alpa channel spots) probably isn't too hard to execute.

The fact that it wasn't included suggests to me that either the graphics artist forgot to finish the top of the pikes (which seems unlikely) or that it simply didn't look good (which seems more likely).
