I have a Kurassier BG adjacent to and facing the flank of a Timariot Cav BG, my opponent brings up an Azab archer BG adjacent and facing the flank of my Kurassier BG thus ZoCing it and preventing the charge into the Timariot flank.
What is the justification of some archers pinning down a heavily armoured mounted BG thus preventing it from moving forwards in the direction it faces?
The archers are not a direct threat as they cannot charge the Kurassiers.

The justification is that troops don't think that logically. They regard the archers as a threat whether or not the archers can actually charge them, and that stops them from swanning off to attack someone else that isn't currently a threat.

The zoccing achers do not in fact prevent the kurassiers from moving forward away from them, they just prevent the kurassiers from charging someone else that isn't a threat until the kurassiers have moved out of their ZOC. If the flanked Timariot unit was 2 squares away, the kurassiers could move out of the archers' ZOC, take the reaction shooting, and then charge the timariots' flank.
