Charge

In the picture above the 6 man unit charges the skirmishers to their front. The skirmishers evade thus revealing the cavalry unit already in melee. Do they charge to contact with the cavalry?

I think not. The cavalry are not an eligible target as the charge contacts bases already in frontal contact and its not a flank or rear charge.

So what do they do? I cannot see any rule that stops them, P73 Charges now move their charge move....

It's in the clarifications. They would stop just short as that is not a valid charge target.

I can see the bit that they throw a VMD as it would not be a legal contact but NOT that they stop.

One would asume therefore that since it is illegal they do not make contact
