"randomizing" p&s campaign

I really enjoy p&s campaigns, an excellent work of gaming art.

I tried historical campaigns, however i prefer the "pike and shot" one: i tried French 1648 vs Dutch 1648 and i was defeated , now i am playing Swiss vs Imperial in 1494 ... really a nice challenge.

If this can be of any interest i found a small and nice way to "randomize" the p&s campaign on what concerns campaign ending.

We know that campaing ends when a side power is 3 more the other side power, however i wished to portrait political and diplomatic actions outside the military campaign.

And works in this way:

- start a p&s campaign (choose sides as usual)
- Roll 1d6 (one six sided die) the result will show you how many years the campaign might last
- when you reach the end of "late autumn of the ending year" as rolled above, roll 1d6, if the result is 1 campaign will end.
- If campaign does not end roll again each end turn of next "late autumn", the campaign will end with a result of 1-2 ; then on 1-3; and then on 1-4; and finally on 1-5 ....

Example

I choose Swiss Vs Imperial in 1494, i roll 1d6 and result is 3 .... my campaign should end in 1497; on 1497 late autumn i roll 1d6 and the score is 3 .... campaign will go on ... on 1498 late autumn i roll 1d6 and result is 2 .... my campaign ends.
