Midway victory conditions

In Midway scenario there are several objectives some of which can be regarded as offensive actions and some defensive actions in nature. At turn 25 I met all offensive objectives like destroying invasion fleet, destroying all carriers and destroying at least 6 enemy warships. What was left to achieve was to protect Midway from occupation (and if invasion fleet was destroyed how could they invade?) and to be careful not to lose any carriers of my own. Scenario has 35 turns and from turn 25 I was just clicking end turn until suddenly game proclaimed victory at turn 31. Since at some point Japanese Navy started to retreat my best guess is that scenario ended when all ships went off the map. Maybe some pesky submarine was late, behind other ships. Anyway in my opinion it is better to end scenario when all offensive objectives are met if the enemy is retreating anyway instead to leave small possibility for one of the carriers to be lost during enemy retreat. This way scenario didn't ended when tension was at its peak but it take 6 no action turns to do it.
