Some Disappointment with Immortal Fire Pictures

While I have been happy with all the army books and would buy them again I thought some of the pictures in the Immortal Fire book could have been better as they don't match the particular list they are shown with or better example could have been shown.

Example:
Late Dynastic Egyptian - picture of a Mercenary greek hoplite: There are enough hoplite pics already in the book couldn't there have been one of an Egyptian figure? For example I would have liked to have known if the Egyptian spearmen look anything like my NKE spearmen.

Kyrenean greek - Another hoplite pic, I know the bulk of the army were hoplites, but again the book is full of hoplite pictures, maybe a chariot would have been better

Syracusan - the pic is of an armoured hoplite but the list doesn't allow armoured hoplites

Hellenistic Greek - the pic is of armoured hoplites from 479bc, the list is from 279bc when hoplites were in the decline and not armoured

I'd have to agree with you.

Yes!! But since picture's and example's are just that, although not as appealing as a picture of a specific Army, let's not nit-pic a very well done product. :)

Good point about variety. Probably the best photos happened to have hoplites. There are always the Ospreys to look at!

Before buying an Osprey for an unusual army I would have liked to see an example of the army. I tend to buy armies on the visual appeal rather than fighting ability, a photo or 2 of the more unusual armies acts a prompt to investigate further. I have in the past gone out and brought the Osprey book for a particular army after seeing an interesting picture of that army.

All the other army books seem to have kept reasonably close including relevant photos.

The main reason I raised the issue is to encourage further army list to keep more on target. This is especially important for period for which I currently have little or no knowledge. If the photos aren't relevant to the particular army I wont bother to buy them.

Two examples of Saitic Egyptian spearmen to give you an idea how little they have changed from NKE times.

thanks for the photos.

You are right about not much change, looks like I will go ahead and field them.
