44 west upgrade

Hello,
i'm at beaches of normandy and enjoying the DLC much, but i noticed two things :
- Adler has a BF 109 G which i *should* be able to upgrade to K at least, the menu is empty
- My tigers can't be upgraded to KT without paying full 990 price. It's better to buy new (green) ones?
Are those things intended or bugs?
Ps: Ah, and how to you subscribe to announcements section of the forum?

i can subscribe to a topic, but not a forum, so i missed the flash sale
thanks!

I don't like this either. This is the only time I use a cheat ("all eqp"). Then I upgrade The SE 109 G to K and that's it.

I would say no, because green troops use to loose strength points more often than experienced troops. And reinforcements for the King Tiger are very expensive. I usually upgrade the SE units to Tiger I, Rondorf and Kerscher to Panther and by the time the King Tiger appears I upgrade a two or three star Panzer IV. And later on, if prestige allows, I add another King Tiger this way. Of course other players may have other ways of handling that.

I am afraid this is intended. Somewhere in the forum (as far as I remember) we had this topic. See, the King Tiger appeared late in the war and in small numbers. I guess the full price of the King Tiger reflects this. If you want to change that, try modifying the series in the equipment file (same series means lower upgrade costs).

I've also heard that the King tiger wasn't actually an upgraded version of the Tiger I, but a new design loosely based off it - so it wouldn't make as much sense to have a cheap upgrade.

i suppose that since it had sloped armor, it wasn't just a refitted tiger I, yes
According to wikipedia, there were about 500 of them built, with at least 25 of them on the western front. Doesn't seem like they they could make a difference before being bombed to smithereens ^^
Since i already had all my PzIV upgraded, i turned two SE tigers into KTs (had barely enough prestige).
Will see how it goes on that scenario, but i think infantry and arty would have been be more useful

It's better to upgrade your existing tanks. When you upgrade, you get to keep any heroes you already may have. You also get to keep the old unit's kills, which will be a stepping stone to getting future heroes. Admittedly, I'm not sure how much an attack or defense hero will help your Tiger II. I am, however, quite sure that a +1 move hero will definitely help. As a rule, I try to target a unit with a move hero acquired in say, '42, for eventual upgrade to a Tiger II. The same strategy would also apply to a Jagdtiger upgrade. Can't fix the 25 fuel though. Good luck!

i beg to differ, as the +move would help a panther much more (you want fast scouts and slow killing machines). On the other hand, the +1 move is a larger upgrade on the KT than the Panther... sigh
I have never used the JT, as i use either cheap AT (stug), or no AT at all, since for the price of the elephant, i can get a tiger
edit : forgot two questions :
1) how do i subscribe to the "announcements" section of PzC forum?
2) do the vehicles for infantry count for prestige cap? in that case you better have infantry with no transport, or at least not with the most expensive transport?

I probably doesn't matter so much in the West series, but AT gets a +2 attack bonus per star, while normal tanks get +1. In the East the extra 4 or 5 from your 4* and 5* Elefants matters against IS1 and IS2.
Also, if you are almost out of prestige, you probably would benefit from looking at which of the cheaper choices will do the job, and especially to look at the cost and benefits of upgrades and overstrength.

Yes, all units count for the cap, including vehicles.

Panther at 6 move is enough of movement. If you want to use him for scouting, maybe use a tank with a spot hero). I'd much rather upgrade a unit with string def heroes (I had a +6 once, and that Panther rocked!) I would definitively retain move heroes for KT or maus.
It's just a taste issue..., but this makes sense to me.

I second this. Having a 7 move panther just encourages you to put it too far ahead of your army. Panthers' armor isn't great compared with the Tiger or the better Russian tanks, and it will draw fire from Russian AT and heavy tanks. They can even die. Now having a Maus or Tiger 2 that can stay at the front of your army on advance is a huge plus.
I've mentioned this before, but PzC units are balanced around the fact that they each have a weakness. Negate that weakness with heroes, and they become extremely powerful. Enhance a strength, and the difference is a lot less noticeable because the core weakness, in this case defense, remains an issue.

i did not give it to a +1, but a +2 hero!
with defense, initiative and spotting, he's a serious AA / ARTY killer
On scenario when there's open ground, like 45 west, incredibly useful.
at 5 stars and overstrength, the ennemy AT dont attack it anyway
