AI thinks too much

I love this game and hope see many more great things come out of it, but the AI is extremely slow. On one turn from a custom scenario I made it took the AI almost a half hour or so to do it's turn. The fact that my computer is a junker and the scenario had a lot of units on the playing field didn't help either. that being said is there a way to optimize the game so the AI takes less time to do it's turn and prevent my CPU from melting down?

These are my computer's specs:

If you happen to have a savegame where the AI is taking a long time, I can use it to identify the bottlenecks which are holding it up in this case, and hopefully optimise.

Ever since the latest patch I've not had this problem nearly as often. My quick solution for any problems, namely 1.) AI taking way too long, 2.) Game crashes anytime, 3.)Game crashes between scenarios/battles and 4.)game is taking longer than 1 minute to load up or restore from save is to first of all use Quicksave often (doesn't hurt) and to use cntrl-alt-delete to bring up task manager and end the game -- then when I restart I generally have no problem for a while.

I dont get the crashes but with the latest patch I do notice the AI turns tend to slow down after about 10-15 turns. It seems to be a graphical slowdown(shooting, grenade throwing), not one related to the AI "evaluating choices". Im guessing theres a memory leak and I think I remember them saying it was an optimization issue and that they were going to address it.

If you see a slowdown please send a log file because it may suggest (an) error(s) happening in the background!
