At Britcon this year there will be two Field of Glory periods:

15mm Ancients: 800 points, armies up to 1035 AD (safely excluding Knights), full-size 72" by 48" tables

15mm Medieval: 800 points, armies from 1077 AD, this year they get the tiny tables of around 60" by 40" tables (so we can fit 5 games in on a 24 foot run of tables basically)

Games will be in the region of 3 hours 20 mins plus a 1-10 min(s) variable

Friday 1800 (earliest start), 2030 hours (latest start) - 2400 close
Saturday 0815-1145, 1230-1600, 1630-2000
Sunday 0830-1200, 1300-1630

Players will have the option to not play in either the Friday night game, or the last game on Saturday provided they notify the organisers when booking.

The list of Britcon traders has been posted on the BHGS website, and accommodation bookings can also be made online.

FoGAM is running neck and neck between the two early and medieval periods this year, which is very different to 2014 when we saw almost 40 in Ancients and 20 in Medieval. Not sure why... ?

Firstly, thanks to all of you who replied to our survey about organising an event on Saturday evening of Britcon to run after the games finish. With a massive 92% of you saying that you would were interested in some sort of social event on the Saturday evening, we have been able to convince the Uni bars and catering team to run a
"Beers, Burgers and Bullets"
evening upstairs in the bar onsite in the venue on Saturday evening!
What this means is that we will be offering:
- draft beer,
- "gourmet" burgers and chips (that's "fries" for those of you who live south of Watford)
- other BBQ stuff as well
as well as...
- comfy chairs
- regular tables set up for social gaming
- a couple of "classic" war movies playing on a 60" screen in the corner (almost certainly of the "everyone can 'sing along' with the dialogue" kind!)
Pricing for everything on the menu is yet to be determined, but the Uni have told us that they are able to do a special advance purchase rate of £10 for a gourmet burger, chips and a pint!
This will be bookable in advance or you can pay on Friday when you arrive at the venue - so, let your friends and clubmates know, and start to plan out your full Britcon Weekend with the BHGS !

Ancients is now starting to creep ahead, with 23 players vs the 18 we have in Medieval.

(The ancients period is currently tied with DBMM on 23 players for being the biggest single theme at this years Britcon).

The army list deadline is creeping up as well ... so we are all wondering at what point does Dave "its the Bosporans of course" Ruddock start trying to predict the other runners and riders... ?

Well actually, I hadn't realised there was two tickets to buy for ancients... So I only went for the early period because it was the first one I saw for FoG ancients.

I'm considering moving to the medieval period.

To be fair, most people are only entering the one period ... but I guess Bosporans can be played on autopilot so maybe you could do both at the same time... :-)

Unfortunately we may not be seeing Guillaume this year. He is organising his own tournament in August

http://www.slitherine.co.uk/forum/viewt ... 55&t=62744

Plus he is going to Lisbon and hopefully Derby - so sadly Britcon may be a step too far. This is also the reason why the French team pulled out of Rome.

I had arranged a practise game with Phil Powell on Monday. He arrived and showed me a text from his wife who had spoken the message and the phone had interpreted. The message should have been: 'Do you want tea or are you going to the wargames club'. The phone interpreted it as :'Do you want tea or are you going to the wall gay men club'

So we had a laugh, finished the game and the Phil went looking for the 'wall gay men club' :D

That's hilarious!

The idea of a "practice game" ... absolutely priceless!
