Hello,
I am looking for miniatures 15 mm to have a Spartan army, Thermopylae period - heavy inf armoured - but till now found none . They all are from a latter period ( the helm is wrong ) .
Has someone found some ?

Magister Militum does some early hoplites which look good:

Basically you just buy any hoplites with the corinthian helm such as Athenians because they had the same equipment as the Spartans at that time. The only difference would be painting the Spartan clothing red. And when you paint them the Lambda was NOT uniformly painted on their shields yet. During the Thermopylae period they painted their own personal designs on the shield, such as a bull, a bird, a fly, etc.

I really like the Xyston 15's. Very nice detail. Just started painting them up.

Xyston's models are beautiful, though they are 18mm (later ranges getting larger). I think that shouldn't stop anyone, unless you wanted to combine them with others.
Though being an older range, Tumbling Dice (now produced by
Toolshed Miniatures) offers a great variety for all classical greek eras.

I have amix of Xyston and AB Miniatures (from Eureka Miniatures in Australia) and am very happy with both. Both are large (18mm) but work well together and casting and detail are beautiful. AB has some beautiful figures with the Corinthian helmets and you can ask Nic to supply just thme if you want.
I am neither a great painter nor great photographer but there are photos of some of these figures (infantry only, the cavalry are old minifigs) in my AAR 2 Spartans vs Carthaginian.

It is true that you may have problems mixing miniatures from different manufacturers but sometimes it is a good idea. In my opinion Xyston range is the best you can find in the market, but you can mix them with other miniatures as long as you use the same shield. Men were taller or smaller (even you can add some green stuff in the base to get them to the same level) but shield and spears shoul maintain an equilibrium and the same shape. No problem considering that Xyston sells both shields and spears...

I agree Strategicos but Xyston and AB are both large (18mm) and fit quite well together anyway.

From memory but I think that you will find that the Spartans had 'regimental' shield designs. Dependant on where the unit was raised.
