What have the Middle Ages, the Second World War, Ancient Rome and Hellish demons got in common?

Probably nothing, apart from the fact they are the settings of our games in the Weekly Humble Bundle!

Starting today a huge list of Slitherine/Matrix games will be available through the Humble section.

You can name your price for Conquest! Medieval Realms, Frontline: Road to Moscow, Battle Academy, and Rise of Prussia Gold.

If you wish, you can pay $6 or more to receive Qvadriga and Hell as well.

And last but not least, for only $10 or more you will receive all of the above plus Close Combat: Gateway to Caen, the latest release in the critically-acclaimed Close Combat series!

Don’t miss the opportunity to play these amazing games and help a charity at the same time!

I can understand that Slitherine likes to sell wind (Steam keys are not games),
but Slitherine by being Gabbe whore will lost the gamers who want games.
What a chagrin.

I did my bit, and was considerably more generous than required, but I still haven't yet got the email with the lnks in. That was some hours ago now. Does anyone know how long it normally takes?

I got in on this. I hope this moves units and increases profits so Slitherine can keep expanding. Glad to see some experiments with market modernization.

Hi Mike

I assume it should be pretty instantaneous so maybe check your spam filter. If that doesn't work I'd contact their support team as we don't have any way to help with issues in their system.

Thanks VPaulus, that's sorted it out. I created an account, got an email, and then everything was available from there.

Thanks for your help.

Hello. I bought a bundle but the only one I could download is Conquest. How can I download the other games? There's something about steam that I didn't understand but I don't like steam much and don't use it. I would like to get the actual games.

I'm sorry, but those games can only be downloaded through Steam.

If you see the symbols beneath each game you'll see that only Conquest! Medieval Realms has a DRM free symbol. All the others have the Steam symbol:

I saw the steam symbols. Lots of slitherine games have steam symbols but you still can download them. Where does it say steam only?

Rich its the typical way that Humble Bundle works - the symbol below denotes the download options.

Honestly redeeming on steam is easy and takes seconds and steam isn't an issue in itself so you should be fine once you get it setup

I never even heard of humble bundle until I saw the ad on the slitherine page. When I went there I thought it was an incredibly great deal. I was going to buy Hell at the next sale anyway. So I plunged.

Some years ago I was forced to take out a steam account to play a game I bought on gamers gate and was transferred there. Really, I don't like steam at all. I hate DRM and they have the worst. And I don't like their install system. And I especially don't like misleading ads. It should have clearly said steam only.

However, if I had known this was steam, it was such a good deal I probably would have gotten it anyway. So I guess I'll have to figure out how steam works and find my account info somewhere.

I hadn't understood the deal properly either, and when it said spend at least $1 to get a steam key for yor games I had assumed that meant downloading via steam was an option, rather than the only way to do it. Like many other people I have never much liked Steam either, and have had bad experiences with it in the past. Mind you I also misunderstood the extra games options. I had thought I would have to pay an extra $6 for the two other games and then another extra $10 for the last set, but in fact you only have to spend at least $6 for the first and at least $10 for the last. I couldn't figure out the mechanism for paying the extra, and then realised I didn't have to pay any extra at all. It's a really great deal.

Having said that, I do know that Steam has evolved over the years, and has listened to user's criticisms and is now a very great deal better than it used to be. I had to download Steam to get my new games (and this Humble Bundle really is a great deal) and then I installed them via Steam. It was all very easy and straightforward. I now know, like Steam or not, I don't have to worry about losing physical copies, and if I have a computer failure or upgrade my machine, or get burgled or something, I can log into Steam and all my games are safely stored there.

It's not perfect, but it is a way forward, and I think that in the future all software is likely to be bought and sold (or rented) in this 'cloudlike' way, and we are all likely to benefit from it.

Best Wishes

Mike

Yeah that's rather a "Slitherine becomes Steam!".
This makes removing regard about the Slitherine store.
Slitherine customers are betrayed,
and Steam customers just stand on their usual lookout for midget prices.

I think awesome deals and pairing with a good system is a great way to reward their customers.

I'd love to see some love paid to older games in the catalog like SSG games though.

Humble only use Steam - they have no other way to distribute the games. This is something outside our control. The only exception is the DRM free version of Conquest but they only do one game like this in a bundle.
