Hi,
For some reason I cant get my units get out of the map using exit points.
They just stay there turn after turn. in some cases you must use it to
complete the mission, like the first mission of Japan. Help anybody?

You have to use exit points of your own colour. As Japan, only red exit points are valid for your units. As US, green ones. Etc.

I know, but how do you use them? I am commanding the unit to enter the
hexagon with the red arrow on it but nothing happens.

You enter the hex this turn. At the end of your turn the unit will be gone (at the start of your next turn). I think the other side would actually get a shot at them if it moved something adj. in its turn.

The Exit symbol is in the corner of the hex. It is easy to move the unit to the wrong hex

Best is to zoom in when unsure if you're hitting the exit hex.

I never got land units to exit the map on sea hexes. Planes worked sometimes (no non-core carrier at start maybe?). Naval units always worked.
Is there a way to undeploy land units btw?

During the deployment phase you can click the 'arrow up' in the unit box.
There's no way to un-deploy during the game AFAIK.

I have a similar issue -- or at least a question that I could not find anywhere else, inc. the manual.
I thought I read during the Tutorial that damaged ships can be sent off-map using these exits, and they'd come back when repaired. I'd like to confirm this, first, and then ask: If so, how long? I have sent several away, and none have returned -- did they hit a black hole?

There needs to be set up exit points for naval units in the scenario.
The designer can set these up individually for air/naval/land units (or combinations).
The designer can also decide if units are able to return to the map. This would need deployment hexes for the specific unit type as well.
You can repair low-strength (1-3) naval units in-game. But note that they lose a lot of efficiency and are very brittle if attacked.

If attacked the ship dies. No questions asked.
Well, nearly all the time anyway. But if a DD can sink a battleship, I think that is near enough to certain!

OIC. I went back to it, and noticed that they said they were 'not deployable' for the remainder of the scenario -- so I restarted & sold them instead. Seems to have worked, but now my game is stuck; been 'thinking' for almost an hour.
Thanx!

Yes, often the majority of the deployment hexes are set to be available on turn-1 only (ie the deployment phase).
In addition a few hexes are deployable for the duration of the scenario.
By default, land units can deploy on or next to villages/towns/cities and naval units in ports. Note that there must be a flag on the location (including hangars) for deployment to work.
