I'm trying to make a series of scenarios for a custom campaign based on Kalvan of Otherwhen series. Ive figured out how to edit the textures but i'm totally stumped on renaming the various units to something that fits the series. Example i would like to change Landsnecht Keil to Mercenary Pikemen, how would i go about doing that?

I wouldn't fool with renaming the models or textures. I create what I want by (for instance) copying the Landsnecht Keil and renaming the new version as Mercenary Pikemen. It was easier for me. I downloaded and editor to change the Squads.xslx file and then used and conline service to convert it to squads.CSV.

You can also directly edit the squads file in CSV format if that is an easier approach.

To rename units you just have to put renamed versions of the appropriate IDS_UNITNAME and IDS_UNITINFO strings in text1.txt in your custom campaign's main folder. Both of these are used for display purposes only. UNITINFO is used in the force selection screen and in the unit information that is shown when you CTRL-L-click on a unit. UNITNAME is used in the information panels at the bottom of the screen and in the popup reports. The number after the string tag should be the unit ID number in the Squads.csv file. Note that text1.txt has to be a Unicode file rather than a normal Windows .txt file. The easiest way to create a blank Unicode .txt file is to copy one of the existing .txt files then delete the contents.
When your campaign is being used, The program will automatically use the local version of the string in preference to the default version.
If all you want to do is rename units, you don't need to edit the squads.csv file at all, but if you want to alter some units' characteristics or add new unit types you will need to do so. If so, you should not edit the squads.csv file in the main gane installation. You should put a copy of it in your campaign's main folder, and then you can edit it to your heart's content without messing up the base game. As long as the top left cell contains #replace the local squads.csv file will be used instead of the default one when your campaign loads.
