I know nothing of modding, but I'm wondering if it would be possible (or if a mod already exists) that could allow you to turn off the Return and/or Eclipse events before the start of a game, or make them random, so you don't know whether they're going to happen or not. They're fun events, but sometimes I'd like to be able to play vanilla First Contact - and knowing for sure that there's going to be an eclipse in the middle and a hi-tech invasion at the end does rather change your strategy.
